It was 22th April, 2025 Tuesday and time was around 2:45 PM. Group of more than 40 people from different states came to Besaran Ghati, Pahalgam to enjoy vacations. Some tourists were sitting ideally in park and some were roaming all around.
Suddenly, armed militants disguised in military uniforms and wearing masks appeared and asked tourist names, checked their identity, asked them to read Kalma and remove their pants. Those who were not identified as Muslims were tragically shot.
They continued firing bullets for around 10 minutes. Tourists and nearby shopkeepers realized that it was a terrorist attack. Initially, there was news of one tourist dead, but by 11 PM, the number had risen to 27. According to a report, most of the victims were identified as men. At first, it was difficult to understand what was actually happening, as the terrorists were dressed in military uniforms and wearing masks.
Whom did the terrorists target?
Asha, a tourist from Pune, Maharashtra, told a media channel that the terrorists specifically targeted males. They forced Hindus to recite the Kalma. Those who were unable to recite it were shot. She shared that the terrorists shot her father with three bullets. But the question that arises here is: was such an attack in Kashmir just a coincidence? Was it a planned operation? Why Terrorist chose 22nd April For Pahalgam Attack?
The terrorist has tried to send a message that “Kashmir’s Chapter isn’t closed yet” to Muslim countries near Saudi Arabia and to the Indian government. Retired Lieutenant General Sanjay Kulkarni states that this attack was planned accordingly in respect to timing and systematic methods. PM Modi was on a visit to Middle East and the attack happened to demean India.
Why Terrorist chose Pahalgam?
“Because this time, the Amarnath Yatra will last for 62 days and end on 9th August. The Amarnath Yatra is considered sensitive from a security perspective. There is always a risk of attacks on the Amarnath Yatra. Due to this, J&K security forces and agencies are always on alert. Pahalgam is the place where the Amarnath Yatra begins. After covering 36 km, devotees reaches Amarnath.
